John Early was last seen Sunday, April 30
Search and rescue crews from five counties are searching for a missing mushroom hunter who was last seen outside Ashland on Sunday, April 30, Jackson County Sheriff’s Department officials reported.
John Early, 65, was last seen near the area of Moon Prairie and Jenny Creek roads, north of mile marker 26 of Highway 66, during a camping trip, according to sheriff’s department public information officer Aaron Lewis.
Early and a friend had gone mushroom hunting during the trip, but were separated, the release said.
Early is described as 6 feet 2 inches tall. He weighs about 200 pounds and has fair skin, blue eyes, and red hair. He was last seen wearing a Long Johns-style shirt with a hooded sweatshirt, jeans, and hiking boots.
Early does not drive and does not have a vehicle. Anyone who may have seen him or given him a ride is asked to call Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon dispatch at 541-776-7206. The case number is 23-2406.
Jackson County Search & Rescue team members are joined by additional search and rescue personnel from Josephine, Douglas, Klamath, and Siskiyou counties. The rescue effort includes ATVs, canines, and mounted units.
