Championship parade set Tuesday for Raiders

Fan, students, alumni and staff are invited to help the Southern Oregon University softball team commemorate its third NAIA national title with a championship parade on Tuesday afternoon. At 3:30 p.m., the Raiders will start the parade route on the corner of Mountain Avenue and Siskiyou Boulevard.

Southern Oregon University first-year leader Gabrielle Weyhrich has been named the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics Women’s Wrestling Coach of the Year after guiding the Raiders to a national title over the weekend in Jamestown, North Dakota. A championship parade celebrating Weyhrich’s Raiders wound Wednesday from through campus, ending with a trophy presentation in front of Lithia Motors Pavilion.

Portion of Walker Avenue closed Friday and Monday for roadwork

A quarter-mile stretch of Walker Avenue between the railroad tracks and East Main Street will be closed Friday, Oct. 11, and Monday, Oct. 14, so roadwork can be done,the city of Ashland announced Thursday.
