Ashland police officers located and arrested a suspect from a handgun-related crime Wednesday after the suspect fled the scene of an alleged crime Tuesday evening.
An unidentified person told police Kyle Anthony Smith, 34, of Klamath Falls, fired two shots at him in the area of Faith and Ashland streets, according to a release from APD. The incident was reported at 8:19 p.m. Tuesday.
The suspect successfully eluded police until Wednesday afternoon when Smith was located and apprehended at his residence near Emigrant Lake by officers from the department’s Criminal Investigation Division, the release said. Two handguns were recovered at the time of the arrest.
The victim, bystanders and surrounding property were unharmed in the incident. The final location of the bullets was not determined.
Smith was lodged in the Jackson County Jail Wednesday on charges of menacing and unlawful use of a weapon, according to the release. No bail amount or charges were available on the Jackson County Jail’s website, but Smith was listed as an inmate Wednesday afternoon.
Smith has no prior charges with the exception of traffic violations, according to court records.
