Performers pay tribute to longtime music teacher on Saturday afternoon

Music fans can enjoy an afternoon of favorite classical piano pieces and jazz performed live by outstanding piano teachers from the Rogue Valley starting at 3 p.m Saturday, Feb. 4, in the historic sanctuary of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church at 140 N. Oakdale Ave. in downtown Medford. Admission is by donation. All proceeds go toward furthering the education of promising music students in the Rogue Valley.

Alexander Tutunov will be among the performers, along with Thor Polson, Pat Daly, Michele Alspach, Tatsiana Asheichyk, and others. Parking is available across the street at the Medford YMCA.

Sponsored by the Rogue Valley Chapter of the Oregon Music Teachers Association, the Joyce Stevens Scholarship Benefit Recital is named in honor of nationally certified teacher Joyce Stevens, formerly of Jacksonville, for her lifelong contribution to the arts in Oregon (and beyond).

Oregon Music Teachers Association (OMTA) is a professional organization of music educators comprising private studio teachers and college music faculty across Oregon. All donations are tax deductible. For further information, call 541-535-2089.
