Testing for sewage pipe leaks leads to calls to fire department
Ashland.news staff report
A pair of calls came in to Ashland Fire & Rescue on Monday afternoon reporting smoke and possible structure fires in the 100 and 200 blocks of South Mountain Avenue, site of Ashland High School.
But this time where there was smoke, there was not fire, said AF&R Battalion Chief Todd Stubbs. Staff from the city’s Wastewater Treatment Plant were using smoke to search for leaks in pipes at the school Monday. Smoke escaping into the air gave the impression of fire, he said.
A third call nearby also received between 1 and 2 p.m. about a possible electrical fire was unrelated.
