This bonus pilot “variety” puzzle is a mini spiral with Inward and Outward clues
— something new this week to exercise your brain.
To solve a spiral puzzle, work on both the Inward and Outward clues provided.
An Inward clue labeled “5-10” means that the answer starts in box 5 and continues in a clockwise direction to box 10.
An Outward clue labeled “11-8” means that the answer starts in box 11 and continues counterclockwise to box 8.
The result of a spiral puzzle is a long sequence of letters, which spell out a list of words when read in either direction.

Ashland CERT volunteers train on fire extinguisher use at monthly session

About 25 Ashland Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) volunteers gathered for their monthly training session Wednesday at Fire Station 2 to learn the basics of fire extinguisher use. The training was held as part of CERT’s ongoing preparedness program, which focuses on giving volunteers practical tools to provide safe assistance during emergencies until better equipped responders arrive.
