Former JPR reporter sues Medford after charges dismissed

A former Ashland reporter arrested in Medford in 2020 while covering the sweep of a homeless camp in a city park has sued the city and several police officers after her criminal charges were dismissed. April Ehrlich, who worked for Jefferson Public Radio at the time of the incident, filed suit in federal court Sept. 20 seeking unspecified damages against the City of Medford, City Manager Brian Sjothun, and eight law enforcement officers for her arrest Sept. 22, 2020.

Pair of fires near Lithia Park were human caused, investigators say

Firefighters swarmed and quickly controlled a pair of fires Thursday about 500 feet apart on a hillside on the east side of Lithia Park in the 500 block of Glenview Drive, near where it meets Ashland Loop Road. The human-caused fires are under investigation by an Oregon Department of Forestry investigator aided by Ashland Fire & Rescue.
