Nonprofit event to include silent auction, theater, dance, music and a meal
Ashland.news staff report
Riding Beyond will be hosting its Annual Riding Beyond Gala Fundraiser from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Bellview Grange in Ashland. The fundraiser’s theme is “Celebrating Our Kinship with the Natural World.” The event will feature fine dining by Curtis Paul of Agora Artisan Eatery and a performance by Playback Theater Northwest, as well as music and dancing with Blue Lightning.
Tickets are currently $55 and, after Oct. 15, will increase to $70.
The Ashland-based nonprofit offers free equine-assisted healing and growth groups for people suffering from long-term challenges of breast cancer, COVID-19, wildfires and other environmental trauma. Since 2013 they have served more than 600 women in their free four-week intensive spring and fall programs.
Their offerings also include hosting weekly meditation circles with their horses, and Saturday sessions at a local ranch to share insights into their services with the general public.
Riding Beyond is funded solely by donations from individuals within and outside the community, as well as businesses and foundations.
The fundraiser will begin with Playback Theater Northwest taking the stage; audience members are invited to share moments and stories from their lives, and see them enacted spontaneously by trained actors. Those actors include many faces familiar to Rogue Valley residents, such as members of the original and current Hamazons and other improv groups.
Following the theater performance, a meal will be served by Curtis Paul, a local chef who owns the Agora Artisan Eatery in downtown Grants Pass.
After entertainment and dinner, dancing will commence with the accompaniment of all-woman dance band Blue Lighting.
A silent auction will be available throughout the evening.
This year local sponsors include: Mountain Meadows Community Foundation and People’s Choice Acupuncture, Shop’n Kart Ashland, Ashland Food Coop, Ashland Family Practice, Jackie Wilda, Peoples Bank, Rising Hope Stable, Wellness Pet Supplies, Grange Coop, Little Creek Ranch, Elements of Health, Wild Moon Wellness, Rogue Valley Potter Supply and Studio, Double C Dog Ranch, and Siskiyou Eye Center.
