RVGS Quilt Committee member, Katie Haugse, will be presenting a quilt made by her grandmother and three great aunts. This basket quilt is primarily made of red and white cotton, was both hand and machine stitched by the sisters while all living separate lives between 1903 and 1909.
The ladies’ parents both crossed the country from different areas in the 1850s to arrive first in California. Their parents then took the growing young family north to Oregon and Washington, then back to California where the quilt was made. Katie will explain how this quilt and other family heirlooms have assisted her in putting together their life stories using lots of genealogy tools.
Cost: free for all, no need to register. This program will be presented live at the RVGS Library only.
