Discounted lift tickets and limited terrain mark ski area’s reopening after recent snowfall
Rogue Valley Times staff report
After a start-and-stop season so far, the Mt. Ashland Ski Area reopened again Wednesday morning but with continued limited terrain, officials said.
The ski area above Ashland off Interstate 5 will offer lift tickets for $18 for Sonnet runs and $30 weekday for Lower Lift runs. Officials reported 3 inches of new snow in the past 24 hours and 11 inches within the past seven days.
All ungroomed terrain will remain closed, the nonprofit resort said in a Tuesday afternoon Facebook post.
Ticket purchases and more information, including the mountain snow report, can be found at mtashland.com.
Hours of daytime operation are set from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The first night of Twilight skiing and riding will take place from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 8. Twilight terrain will feature Sonnet, the Learning Center, Aisle One, Doug’s Way (formerly Aisle Two) and Lower Juliet, the post said.
The ski area opened briefly in late December but paused operations due to a lack of snow on New Year’s Day. This week, officials also announced the resignation of ski area General Manager Andrew Gast, effective Jan. 24.
The following lifts are scheduled to be open Wednesday: Sonnet, Lithia and Comer, and the First Act Learning Carpet.
Planned terrain for Wednesday includes Sonnet, Lupine, Aisle One, Doug’s Way (formerly Aisle Two), Lower Juliet and the Learning Center.
“All core services in the Karen and Sid DeBoer Lodge will be available, with lessons, rentals, and the Siskiyou Mountain retail shop fully open along with the T-Bar Lounge and Gemütlichkeit Grill,” the Facebook post said.
The ski area’s Locker Lodge and lockers will remain closed and will reopen when more terrain on the mountain is open, officials said.
