Earth Day came out to celebrate Earth Day, April 22, with a block party on a sunny afternoon in the Railroad District featuring food, music, games and art.
The music included performances on A Street by the Elbow Room Taiko drum troupe, Southern Oregon bluegrass band Eight Dollar Mountain, who played outside the headquarters of KS Wild, and a variety of musicians, including Creekside Strings, who played at La Baguette Music Cafe.

Ashland Hardware had kid-friendly games and face painting, as well as an expert who offered tips on water-saving drip irrigation. KS Wild, along with hosting music, had a screen printing station where people could have art printed on their shirts or tote bags.
A Tacos Libertad food truck added to the dining options, and Tlalli, an A Street restaurant that plans to open in May, set up a booth and served up beverages that will be part of its Latin American cuisine.

Tuesday’s event, the first A Street Earth Day Block Party, drew a crowd. It was organized by Karolina Lavagnino of Wild Thyme Productions to celebrate the Earth and environmental protection.

She said her goal was to get to the Railroad District to “enjoy this really beautiful part of our town. I want people to gather and celebrate spring, to enjoy live music, great food, and local makers.”

Participating businesses included Noble Coffee Roasting, Ashland Food Co-op, and Masala Bistro, Ashland Yoga Center, Piccadilly Cycles Terrene Wine + Cider, Circadian Cellars, Ashland Recycled Furniture, Southern Oregon Sourdough, Plant Baked and Hummingbird Heart.

Vendors offered jewelry by Pedal Creations, Fera Fox and Lava Designs; chocolate treats by Zi Spice; and organic skincare products and pressed botanical art by Vibrant Earth Botanicals.
