Ski hill managers move event to March 14 amid dry conditions, light snow levels

The winter that isn’t continues to adversely impact the Mt. Ashland Ski Area.
Due to ongoing dry conditions resulting in low snow levels and weather forecasts calling for only light snow in the coming week, ski hill managers have decided to reschedule Bavarian Night to March 14.
The annual event is a fundraiser for the area’s Ski Patrol and features Bavarian fare, live music, a torchlight parade, and a fireworks show.
“We want to make it clear that we are not giving up on our season just year and that we are holding out hope for this month through the end of April,” ski hill officials said in a news release, emphasizing, “The team is ready to go once the snow flies.”
They are also urging people to “Pray for snow and the Mt. Ashland Ski Area Team will continue to plan for an incredible Bavarian Night event, with fireworks and more! We’ll check in again soon on updates to the event and what to expect the night of” the event.
The ski area has been closed to skiing and snowboarding since mid-January because of the lack of snow.
Ski hill managers also note the business office is open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. with staff available to answer any questions. Lift tickets, lessons and rental gear will again be available once there is more snow on the ground.
