Britt Festival expands lineup with country, alt-rock and blues acts

Country, indie-rock and jam-band favorites among latest concert announcements

A variety of musical styles — from country to indie-rock — are part of the newest offerings announced for this summer’s Britt Festival.

For country music fans, Jake Owen is bringing his feel-good anthems to the Britt stage. Another style will be offered by indie folk favorite Shakey Graves, who according to a Britt press release, is “known for blending raw storytelling with his unmistakable sound.”

Making their Britt debut will be Young the Giant with Cold War Kids & KennyHoopla, who will team up for a night of alt-rock, and jam-band legends. Returning to the Britt stage will be the String Cheese Incident, a group that is known for providing music that “will have fans dancing non-stop.”

The other two newly announced performers are blues-rock powerhouse The Marcus King Band and trailblazing artist Ani DiFranco, with special guest Valerie June, are expected to “add some soulful grit to the season.”

Tickets for several Britt shows are already on sale, including KALEO, Bonnie Raitt, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Pink Martini, Los Lobos & Los Lonely Boys, The California Honeydrops, and Jim Gaffigan.

Britt Festival Orchestra concerts are also available to the general public, including the two-night run of “Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back in Concert,”with the orchestra playing the score live-to-picture.

All tickets are available through britt.org, the Box Office at 541-773-6077, or in person at 216 W. Main St., Medford. Ticket buyer are reminded to always visit the official website directly to ensure that their tickets are valid and the best possible price. 

A Britt pre-sale for Order Form members, $750 and above, runs through February 22. The pre-sale dates for Donors, $300, members is online only on Feb. 23 and 24 while early sales for Patron member, $150, is online only Feb. 25-26. General public sales will open Feb. 27 at 10 a.m.

The Ashland Independent Film Festival will spotlight homegrown talent Saturday, Feb. 21, during its revived Local Lens Spotlight at the Varsity Theatre. The one-night program features 13 short films by filmmakers from Jackson and Siskiyou counties, followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers and crew.
