Stile Antico is firmly established as one of the world’s most accomplished and innovative vocal ensembles. Working without a conductor, its 12 members have thrilled audiences on four continents with their fresh, vibrant and moving performances of Renaissance polyphony. Its bestselling recordings have earned accolades including the Gramophone Award for Early Music, Diapason d’or de l’année, Edison Klassiek Award, and Preis der deutschen Schallplattenkritik. The group has received three Grammy nominations, and performed live at the 60th Grammy Awards at Madison Square Garden.
Along with the London-based vocal group’s recordings and awards, Stile Antico regularly performs at many of the world’s most prestigious venues, including Wigmore Hall, BBC Proms, Buckingham Palace, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, and Leipzig Gewandhaus. The group is also a frequent guest at leading European early music festivals, including those in Antwerp, Bruges, Utrecht, York and Lucerne.
The term “stile antico” — pronounced STEE-lay an-TEE-co — means “old style,” a phrase coined in the 17th century to describe the style of Renaissance church composition. Over time, the phrase stile antico came to be seen as an ideal of musical purity.
Stile Antico’s concert program for the chamber music performance, dubbed “The Golden Renaissance: A Journey through Stile Antico’s Favourite Music,” features works by Byrd, Tavener, Praetorius, Gibbons, Tallis, Allegrí, and many more.
