The story of a love affair during World War I runs through May 18
“Mary’s Wedding,” a play about a wartime love affair, has opened at the Collaborative Theatre Project in Medford.

The production will run through Sunday, May 18.
The play, by Canadian writer Stephen Massicotte, tells a romantic story while making a statement on the foolishness of war.
Massicotte uses the framing of a dream to explore the emotional costs of war, in this case of World War I. The play begins in 1920, a few years after the war.
Mary dreams of her first love, Charlie, and the story moves back in time through Mary’s dream and forward in time through Charlie’s life. Together the two timelines intertwine.
The Sarah Watson plays the role of Mary, a young Englishwoman whose family has moved to Canada. Aidan Jenkins portrays Charlie, a farm boy who goes to war.
The CTP production is directed by Tommy Statler. It features original cello music by Harley Eblen.
The play has mature language themes of war and death. It is recommended for ages 13 and up.
