SUBJECT PROPERTY: Public Right-of-Way a portion of Fern Street  

OWNER/PETITIONER: City of Ashland Public Work Engineering Division 

DESCRIPTION: The City Council will consider a request to vacate a portion of Fern Street right of way. 

Property Description: 

That the certain roadway section of Fern Street, described as follows:

A Public Street Vacation of that portion of Fem Street between Roca Street and the easterly boundary of The Galey Addition to the City of Ashland, adjacent to those tracts of lands described as Lots 23, 24 & 25 within The Galey Addition to The City of Ashland laying situate within the Northwest Quarter of Section 15 in Township 39 South, Range 1 East of the Willamette Meridian in the City of Ashland, Jackson County, Oregon, being more particularly described and bounded as follows, to wit;

Commencing at a 1/2 inch iron pipe at the southeast corner of Roca Park Subdivision, recorded in Volume 18, Page 10 in the Plat Records of Jackson County, Oregon, situated on the east line of Lot 24 of the Galey Addition to the City of Ashland, recorded in Volume 3, Page 80 of said Plat Records; thence South 00°16’49” West, along said described east line, a distance of 59.94 feet to the southeast corner thereof, from which a 3/4 inch iron pipe bears North 89°43′ 11″ West, 1.15 feet therefrom, the POINT OF BEGINNING; thence South 00°16’49” West along the east line of Fern Street, a distance of 60.00 feet to intersect the south line of said street; thence North 89°40’30” West, along said south line, 329.97 feet to a point from which a 3/4 inch iron pipe bears North 68°38’31” West, 0.43 feet; thence North 00°16′ 18″ East, along the east line of Roca Street, 30.00 feet to the center line Fern Street; thence North 00°22’00” East continuing along the said east line, 30.00 feet to the southwest corner of Lot 23 of said plat; thence South 89°40′ 30″ East, along the north line of said described Fern Street, being 30.00 feet north of, parallel with and adjacent to the former centerline of Fern Street, a distance of 329.92 feet to the POINT OF BEGINNING.

Containing 0.45 acres or 19,797 square feet, more or less

ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL MEETING: Tuesday October 7, 2025 at 6:00 PM, Ashland Civic Center, 1175 East Main Street. 

Notice is hereby given that a PUBLIC HEARING on the following request with respect to the ASHLAND MUNICIPAL CODE will be held before the ASHLAND CITY COUNCIL on the meeting date shown above. The meeting will be available for viewing at RVTV.SOU.EDU. For virtual attendance and comment at the meeting, please contact City Record Alissa Kolodzinski at [email protected]. A copy of the Staff Report and relevant information will be available for inspection seven days prior to the hearing and will be provided at reasonable cost, if requested. All materials are available at the Ashland Public Works Engineering Division, Community Development and Engineering Services, 51 Winburn Way, Ashland, Oregon 97520. During the Public Hearing, the Council shall allow testimony from the applicant and those in attendance concerning this request. The Council shall have the right to limit the length of testimony and require that comments be restricted to the applicable criteria.
