Two shelters will provide a place to stay warm during freezing conditions

A pair of severe weather shelters will open in Ashland from Thursday, Jan. 15, through Sunday, Jan. 18, due to cold temperatures forecast over coming days.
The city’s severe weather shelters, located at 2200 Ashland St. and 2350 Ashland St., are “low-barrier, no frills, overnight shelters for anyone needing to get out of the cold,” according to a Jackson County emergency notification.
The doors each day at 5 p.m. with lights out by 10 p.m., according to the release.
Both facilities are managed by Opportunities for Housing, Resources & Assistance (OHRA), the county noted.
