SOPride Parade celebrates its 13th year Saturday

More than 50 groups expected to join in parade, highlight of four days of events

More than 50 different groups are expected to take part in the Pride Parade on Saturday through downtown Ashland, the highlight of four days of celebration and solidarity organized by Southern Oregon Pride, marking its 13th year of hosting the Pride event. The theme this year is “Live Out Loud!”

Events include:

  • Thursday, Oct. 5: Queer Night BINGO at Paschal Vineyard & Winery from 6 to 9 p.m. at 1122 Suncrest Rd. Talent.
  • Friday, Oct. 6: Enjoy a “Prideful First Friday Art Walk” throughout Ashland and special fun at the Trap Door with drag, dancing and speciality drinks. 
  • Saturday, Oct. 7: SOPride Parade begins at 11 a.m. with more than 50 groups participating, including the city of Ashland’s Social Equity and Racial Justice Committee. There will be 25 vendors, and food trucks in Lithia Park from noon to 3 p.m. Butler Bandshell will feature entertainment with drag, a DJ, dancing, aerial performances and a special performance by performers from Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s “Rent” actors, who will perform “Minutes.” There will be drag and dancing starting at 8 p.m. starting at the Black Sheep, and a “Pride crawl” throughout Ashland, organizers say.  
  •  Sunday, Oct. 8: “Drag it OUT Sunday” starts with brunch starting at 9 a.m. at the Brickroom, 35 N. Main St., followed at 11 a.m. with food and wine at Paschal Winery in Talent and “Drag and Boots” from 1 to 4 p.m. during the “Disco Deeper After Party” at the Beaux Club, 347 E. Main St.
