The Ashland Chamber of Commerce’s Children’s Halloween Celebration returns Monday, Oct. 31, after two years off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The parade begins at 3:30 p.m. in front of the Ashland Public Library at 410 Siskiyou Blvd., and continues down East Main Street to Ashland Plaza.
Ashland independent film studio Joma Films has completed principal photography on a new feature film about a murder in a small Oregon town and a local boxer charged with committing the crime.

Death threats made to Oregon Shakespeare Festival Artistic Director Nataki Garrett and other staff that started in January have also been made in the “recent” past — within the past three months — according to David Schmitz, executive director of OSF. Schmitz met with Ashland Police Chief Tighe O’Meara earlier this month, along with a security firm hired by OSF, and said plans are in place to meet monthly regarding security.
David Kelly, who has been delighting audiences for decades at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival, is returning to Ashland to perform in the Rogue Theater Company’s production of “Every Brilliant Thing” Nov. 30 to Dec. 10 at the Grizzly Peak Winery.

Ashland has been approved for a federal loan of up to $73 million to replace its 76-year-old water treatment plant, the Environmental Protection Agency announced Thursday. The low-interest financing will allow the city to draw funds as construction progresses.
