Election of budget panel officers, first reading of a transient lodging tax ordinance are among agenda items

The city of Talent has a packed government meeting slate set for Wednesday, May 7, at the Talent Community Center, 104 E. Main St., Talent.
The city’s Budget Committee will meet first at 6 p.m., with the main focus on the election of the committee’s chair and vice chair and and an overview of the budget process and budget message presentation, according to a meeting agenda.
The City Council will meet next at 6:45 p.m., with new business including a first reading of the city’s transient lodging tax ordinance, the approval of the Together for Talent Spring Into Recycling event, and approval of support for Oregon House Bill 3149, which would allow “state moneys to be spent for school districts that were impacted by wildfires for four more school years,” according to the bill.
