Talent starts at the bottom to preserve city’s historic Town Hall

Preservation of Talent’s historic 1899 Town Hall will start at the bottom. Talent City Council voted to enter into a $235,000 design-build contract with Ausland Group for foundation repair work at its Dec. 19 meeting. Stalled plans for building repairs were taken up early in the year, but a fire in the basement on April 17 brought issues to the forefront.

Free tree services for you: Urban forest canopy can grow around Jackson County

Residents and organizations in many areas of Jackson County will get free tree services, including assessments, pruning, planting of new trees and hazardous tree removal, through an OUR Community Forestry grant-funded Rogue Treesilience initiative. OCF will hold a kickoff event for the program work on Friday, Nov. 8, at 309 S. Pacific Highway in Talent.

The 53rd annual Talent Harvest Festival was held Saturday downtown under perfectly sunny autumn skies. Thousands turned out for the event, which kicked off with the Talent Harvest Festival 5K, 10K and Fun runs, and included a morning pet parade. Live music was played at the Wagner Plaza, Old Town Park and the Library Commons Park.

The Grotto pizzeria in Talent closes after 20-plus years

It’s the end of a pizza era as The Grotto Pizzeria in Talent served its last slice of pizza Saturday, Sept. 7. After more than 20 years of slinging pizza pie dough, the pizza restaurant at 302 E. Main St. said goodbye. The new owners taking over the spot will be Morrton’s Sports Pizza Bar in Medford, which will call the location Morttons Too.
